Language Interpreters Ltd is one of the UK’s growing providers of professional interpreting, translation and transcription services. We are actively recruiting freelance interpreters, translators and British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters for face-to-face, telephone and video interpreting assignments throughout London, across the UK and internationally.

We are continuously looking for professional freelance linguists to join our growing network of interpreters and translators.

We welcome applications from qualified and experienced linguists based in London, across the UK, and around the world who are committed to delivering high-quality language support while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, confidentiality, impartiality, and professionalism.

We will not be able to consider your application if you do not have interpreting qualifications.

Interpreter and Translator Requirements

Legal Interpreting

For assignments within the legal sector, particularly those covered by the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) guidelines, applicants must hold one or more recognised interpreting qualifications, including:

  • Community Interpreting qualifications (Levels 1–6)
  • Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
  • DCI Level 6 Diploma in Community Interpreting
  • Diploma in Police Interpreting
  • UK Border Agency / Home Office interpreting qualifications
  • NRPSI registration
  • Other recognised interpreting qualifications or relevant professional credentials

Medical, Healthcare, Mental Health and Public Sector Interpreting

For assignments within the medical, healthcare, mental health, public sector, and private sectors, applicants must hold appropriate interpreting qualifications and demonstrate the necessary skills and experience to work in sensitive environments.

Our interpreters may support assignments involving:
  • Vulnerable adults and children
  • Mental health and wellbeing appointments
  • Therapy and counselling sessions
  • Mediation and conflict resolution meetings
  • Healthcare professionals, therapists, and specialist practitioners
  • Social care and safeguarding-related appointments
Applicants should hold one or more of the following:
  • Recognised interpreting qualification
  • Healthcare or public service interpreting qualification
  • Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
  • DCI Level 6 Diploma in Community Interpreting
  • NRPSI registration
  • Language-related degree or diploma supported by relevant interpreting training and experience

Due to the sensitive nature of medical, mental health, safeguarding, and therapeutic assignments, applicants must demonstrate the required qualifications, professionalism, confidentiality, and experience necessary to support service users safely and effectively.

British Sign Language (BSL) Interpreting

We are also looking for qualified British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters to join our professional network and support assignments across the UK.

BSL interpreters may be required to support clients across a range of settings, including:
  • Legal and court environments
  • Healthcare and NHS appointments
  • Mental health and wellbeing services
  • Education and social care settings
  • Public sector organisations
  • Corporate and private appointments
Applicants should hold appropriate BSL interpreting qualifications and professional recognition, including:
  • NRCPD registration
  • RSLI (Registered Sign Language Interpreter) status
  • Relevant BSL interpreting qualifications
  • Appropriate specialist training and experience

Due to the sensitive nature of BSL assignments, applicants must demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, accuracy, and the ability to support effective communication between Deaf and hearing individuals.

Linguists Working As Freelancers

We offer a wide range of language services to the legal, medical, public, and private sectors.
We are constantly looking for professional linguists based in the United Kingdom to join our team.
We are looking for dedicated, qualified/experienced interpreters / translators in and around London and throughout the UK.
According to the Legal Aid Agency's guidelines, you must have one or more qualifications for legal interpreting(Community Interpreting Levels 1-6, DPSI, Diploma in Police Interpreting, UK Border Agency Certificate or IND) (Home Office).
You must have one or more of the above qualifications or a basic or minimum qualification of a language related degree or diploma, NRPSI, to work in the medical, public, or private sectors.

We will not be able to consider your application if you do not have interpreting qualifications.
