Kannada language, origin and dialects spoken over the world.
Origin and History
Kannada is a Dravidian language spoken mostly in the south west part of India by the people of Karnataka.
The second oldest of the four main Dravidian languages with a literary heritage is Kannada. It is one of India's
proposed languages and is the official and administrative language of Karnataka State. The court language of some
of South and Central India's most powerful states, such as the Chalukya dynasty, the Rashtrakuta dynasty,
the Vijayanagara Empire, and the Hoysala Empire, was Kannada.
According to the area, the dialects of Kannada fall into four groups. The dialects of the coast (Mangalore Kannada, Halakki, Barkur, Havyaka, Kundagannada, Sirsi Kannada, Ankola Kannada, Komarpant, Malenadu Kannada), the dialects of the north (Dharwad Kannada, Gulbarga Kannada, Vijayapura Kannada), the southwest (Arebhashe, Tiptur Kannada, Rabakavi, Nanjangudu Kannada) and South Karnataka (Aruvu, Bangalore Kannada, Chamarajanagar Kannada, Mandya Kannada, Banakal).
Linguistic communities in the states of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala and Goa, as well as Kannadigas abroad, speak the language.
