The Latvian language, also known as Latvian Latviesu Valoda. It is an eastern Baltic language predominantly spoken in Latvia and belongs to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European language family. Originally, Latvia was inhabited by ancient people called the Balts. Latvian is the official language of Latvia and is used by a part of the population of the country as their mother tongue.
