Romanian Language, Origin and Dialects Spoken Over the World.

      Origin and History

Romanian is a Balkan Romance language spoken by about 24–26 million people as a first language, mainly in Romania and Moldova, and another 4 million as a second language.

Romanian is part of the Eastern Romance sub-branch of Romance languages, a linguistic group that has developed from many Vulgar Latin dialects isolated from Western Romance languages between the 5th to 8th centuries. Romanian emerged from Vulgar Latin around the 5th-6th centuries, when the region that is today Romania was part of the Roman Empire.

Romanians came into contact with their Slavic-speaking neighbours during the 7th and 8th centuries, who exercised a great deal of control on their language, theology, and culture. Hungarian, Turkish, and Greek were among the other influences.

      Dialects

There are four varieties of Romanian: (Daco-)Romanian, Aromanian, Megleno-Romanian, and Istro-Romanian, with the standard form being Daco-Romanian. The root of the word 'Daco-Romanian' can be traced back to Samuil Micu and Gheorghe Sincai, the first written book of Romanian grammar.

      Countries spoken

There, to highlight its origin and its area of use, the Romanian dialect spoken north of the Danube is called Daco-Romana lingua, which covers the former Roman province of Dacia, while it is still spoken south of the Danube, in Dobrudja, Central Serbia and northern Bulgaria. As a national, official language, only one country uses Romanian - Romania itself. There are about 34 million people worldwide who can speak Romanian, according to another survey, of which 30 million speak it as a natural language. It is both Romania's and Moldova's official and national languages and is one of the official languages of the European Union. With significant minorities in Italy, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom,Canada, and the United States of America, multiple immigrant Romanian speakers live scattered across many other regions and nations worldwide.

The significance of Romanian interpreters cannot be overstated

Romanian interpreters are indispensable in various scenarios, enabling efficient communication and overcoming linguistic barriers. Whether it’s private events, business negotiations, immigration offices, medical consultations, or social gatherings, these interpreters adeptly tailor their services to meet individual needs. The success of Romanian interpreters in private settings underscores the transformative impact of language technology in eliminating obstacles and enhancing communication.

The Romanian Legal Aid Interpreters program stands out as a noteworthy initiative, aiming to promote fairness and acceptance within the legal system. Recognising the crucial need for skilled interpreters, this program effectively bridges communication gaps between legal professionals and Romanian-speaking individuals seeking assistance. Over time, it has played a vital role in numerous legal proceedings, providing precise and culturally appropriate interpreting services. These interpreters have become indispensable allies in upholding the principles of justice and overcoming linguistic barriers within the legal landscape.

Legal aid interpreters play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication between individuals with limited English proficiency and the legal system. The linguistic gap is bridged by legal aid translation services, enabling individuals to understand legal documents, court proceedings, and other crucial information essential for their legal representation. These services contribute to a fair and just legal process by providing accurate and culturally sensitive translations. They are especially important in diverse locales where language barriers can hinder individuals from fully grasping their rights or participating effectively in legal proceedings.

The dedication and proficiency of Legal Aid-qualified Romanian interpreters and translators have been instrumental in ensuring the availability of justice for Romanian-speaking individuals. Whether engaged in private or structured endeavours, Romanian legal aid interpreters significantly contribute to removing obstacles, fostering comprehension, and enhancing justice and inclusivity within the legal realm.
