Sylheti language, origin and dialects spoken over the world.
Origin and History
Sylheti is an Eastern Indo- Aryan language mainly spoken in Bangladesh's Sylhet Division, the Barak Valley and Assam's Hojai district, as well as in India's northern parts of Tripura. Sylheti is regarded as either a Bengali dialect or a language of its own right in different ways. While most linguists consider it an autonomous language, the diglossia vernacular is formed by Sylheti for many native speakers, with standard Bengali, forming the codified lecture. Some wrongly consider it a "corrupt" form of Bengali, and there is a recorded change from Sylheti to Bengali in Bangladesh and India. In Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland, there are Sylheti speakers; the largest Sylheti diaspora communities reside outside the Indian subcontinent in the United Kingdom and North America. There are significant Sylheti-speaking communities in the Middle East, most of which are migrant workers, and in many other nations around the world.
Sylheti is the main language of northeast Bengal which includes the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh and Karimganj, a district of Assam based in India. Sylheti belongs to Eastern Indo-Aryan languages, that had emerged from the Magadhi Prakrit. Sylheti is not comprehensible to other Bengali language, it is a dialect of Bengali, and has two variations, the Eastern and Western that is grouped into Eastern Bengali. Sylheti identifies after Sylhet, referring to the language and dialect spoken in that area. Sylheti is also known as Sylhetti, Sylheti Bangla or Sileti.
Bangladesh and India both speak Bengali, and the dialect Sylheti is spoken by over 11 million people today, largely in the Sylhet Division of Bangladesh and Assam Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur and Nagaland in India.
There are several other Sylheti communities in the United Kingdom, the United States, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, Singapore, Italy, and the Middle East.
